What can a dictator’s wine cellar tell us about power, fear and control? In this session, Nick Place explores the hidden cultural history behind Joseph Stalin’s obsession with wine — revealing how luxury, paranoia and politics intertwined at the heart of the Soviet regime. A sharply told historical story that uses food, drink and excess to illuminate the mechanics of authoritarian power.
