Victoria Haskins

Victoria Haskins is a Professor of Australian History at the University of Newcastle. Victoria has published numerous historical articles and books on colonial histories of cross-cultural relationships, including One Bright Spot (2005), Uncommon Ground: White Women in Aboriginal History (2005) with Anna Cole and Fiona Paisley, and, with John Maynard, Living with Locals: Early Europeans’ Experiences of Indigenous Life (2016). Currently researching the history of travelling South Asian and Chinese nursemaids in the British Empire, Victoria works with a rich variety of historical sources to bring the entangled stories of the past to life.
