Richard Light

Richard Light was expelled from his Byron Bay school in year 12 but eventually scraped through Teachers College to teach in Australia and Japan. Returning to Australia to complete a PhD in Human Movement (UQ), he embarked on a successful academic career. Promoted to professor eight years later he had appointments in Australia, France, England, and New Zealand and is now Professor Emeritus at the University of Canterbury (NZ). Publishing over 200 journal articles, book chapters, and 12 books, Grief and Growth is his first non-academic book.
